SELS is an international English language school located in an urban setting in the capital, Addis Ababa. We seek to provide quality ESL instruction in a relaxed and supportive environment. Classes are small, with a healthy mix of cultures and backgrounds. We focus on friendship evangelism and discipleship.
1. Just finished your degree? Wondering what to do before you start your first job? Feeling that God may be asking you to give some time to overseas mission? Like to have a year or two out doing something of lasting value? Perhaps SELS is the place for you. All you need is the one-month TESOL course and you're ready to join our team.
2. Never used that TESOL certificate you worked so hard for? Wondering how you can combine English teaching with communicating the gospel? Come and join us at SELS, nation building and communicating the gospel through ESL. As part of the SELS team, you will be challenged both to practise and develop your ESL teaching skills and to reach out to those who haven't yet heard the gospel.
3. Are you a people person? Do you like to get alongside others and befriend them? Is communicating the gospel through relationships your gift? At SELS there are ample opportunities for sitting and chatting with eager students who are delighted to have someone to converse with. You'll be able to make friends, meet students outside of school and share your faith freely.
4. Recently retired? Still got lots of ideas and energy and wondering what to do next? Do you enjoy getting to know and offering hospitality to overseas students? Why not come out to join us at SELS? Either get the one-month TESOL course and come as a teacher or just come as a classroom assistant and helper. Your work and life experience will be highly valued as you join a team committed to nation building and communicating the gospel through teaching English.
5. Are you in your 20s, with a heart for reaching other people for Christ? Have you been involved in 'seekers' Bible studies or discipleship groups? Are you interested in developing in these areas? Do you feel that God is moving you toward change? Do you have TESOL or the time to do the one-month intensive course? Come and join us at SELS.
6. Wanted: a young woman interested in befriending Muslim women in the unique setting of English language learning. If this is you, we need you at SELS.
7. Are you good with IT? Do you like to get things organized? SELS needs people like you. We have students who need to be encouraged to access the English language for themselves using interactive CD ROMs and audio machines. We have teachers who don’t know how to file and share their resources. Could you help us?
