The UEEB/SIM Hospital at Bembereke plays an important role in the provision of health care to the north of Benin. There are now 104 beds, including an isolation ward for TB patients of 12 beds, and a bed occupancy rate in the main wards of 96.2%. Caring for these patients are 94 Beninois and 15 missionaries from all parts of the globe.
Besides the wards, Bembereke Hospital has an outpatient department, an ophthalmic clinic, a delivery room, a twin theatre suite with sterile supplies department, a pharmacy, a laboratory, a simple X-ray department, a teaching suite, an administrative block and a workshop. It serves as a general hospital to a population of at least 100,000 as well as a referral center for a larger area. The hospital also has a community health team.
In addition to your other medical activities, you would oversee the sterilizing unit and cleaning and re-sterilizing of operation equipment, and you would teach in-service programs.
