Do you enjoy working with youth? Do you have a passion to give them hope in Jesus?
As a Refugee Youth Worker, you have an exciting opportunity to use your creativity to make relationships with and disciple youth in the Me'eyne refugee camp. Seventy-five to ninety percent are young males below the age of 25, with little to occupy their time in constructive means. It is a dangerous situation for the few females and minors present. Most are hoping to one day move to a Western country but are ill prepared with skills that will help them.
Based on previous SIM work in refugee camps within Ethiopia, government officials have invited SIM to be involved with the refugees from Eritrea. They have commented that there is need for "ethical" teaching; we see this as an open door for work that will include spiritual input.
Specific job responsibilities would likely include designing and implementing a government approved project in the camp to assist refugee youth there. This may include ESL classes, vocational training, Western country survival skills, sports, etc. The job would also include making relationships with spiritually interested youth and encourage spiritual growth.
