Camping is a fun and positive way to reach youth with the gospel and with follow-up discipleship and mentoring. Has God gifted you with camping experience, with administrative skills, and with speaking ability? This may be what He has prepared you for!
The "La Joya" camp in Valle Vitor is helping to equip churches and Christian schools of Arequipa by providing a place where they can do discipleship, evangelism, and leadership training through camps, retreats, and conferences. The camp has a small staff of four: administrator, cook, maintenance, and a Director of Ministries who manages the Arequipa camp office. A missionary couple is currently living on-site at the camp and coordinates the staff and use of the camp, hosting any groups that rent the facilities. This position is contributing to Peru's strategy of evangelism, church planting, and strengthening the church through discipleship and leadership training.
As a Camping Coordinator and Promoter, you would live in Arequipa and coordinate with the Project Manager and others involved in the camp to ensure smooth management of the ministry. You would primarily supervise the Director of Ministries and the camp office, as well as participate on the committee to oversee summer camps and counselor training. Discipleship and good relations with the volunteer staff is key. You would also promote the camp to churches and Christians schools and work with youth leadership in churches.
