Imagine preparing sermons and imparting Biblical teaching without any books. Some pastors in French-speaking Africa find themselves in this situation. For a long time their cry has been the need for ministry material, especially books.
SIM wants to provide French pastors' book sets (PBS) in thirteen Francophone countries to help such pastors. This twenty-book set will include the Africa Bible Commentary, a study Bible and dictionary, The ABC of Christian Theology, and an online Bible programme on DVD, all in French. The books will be distributed at conferences in 2010. Pastors contribute half the cost of their book set.
PBS conferences have already been held elsewhere. 'It was wonderful,' said Evangelist Mulungu. 'We had an opportunity to make friends with pastors of other churches serving in different places and discuss our ministries.'
Unity in Christ was not only the subject of one of the seminars presented – it was something pastors were able to experience. They left the five-day conference with a new network of peer support as well as their books.
Go halves with a pastor for a book set and attendance at a conference in 2010 and encourage and support him in his ministry.
