Ethiopia Relief and Rehabilitation

Short rainy seasons and crop failure are now becoming a frequent occurrence in many areas in the horn of Africa. This year is no exception. A report on the BBC on the 4 July describes a desperate emergency developing in the horn of Africa, where drought and high food prices are spreading hunger among millions of people in Somalia, northern Kenya, Ethiopia and nearby states.

This situation will cause a sharp increase in market prices and produce acute food insecurity and malnutrition in many parts of Ethiopia. SIM have in the past been involved in many programmes in partnership with NGOs to alleviate the needs drought so often brings. This time will be no different.
