Fulfulde Translation and Literacy

Fulfulde Translation and Literacy, Niger — 97427

Fulfulde menThe Fulfulde Translation and Literacy Project aims to establish and strengthen the Fulani church by translating the Bible into Fulfulde and by offering literacy programmes to enable Fulani Christians to read the Bible in their own language.

This project began in 1995 and is focused on reaching the Fulani people of eastern Niger. Already almost half of the New Testament has been translated into Fulfulde in partnership with other Fulani translators.

The team is also preparing literacy materials to meet the need of the Fulani believers who desire to learn to read. Once these materials are produced and the Fulani church leaders are trained, they will be able to use them widely among the church.

Children at the Wednesday club

A Wednesday afternoon Kid's Club is run by the translators. The children are taught Bible stories that the translation team have translated. They are also taught memory verses.
