
The floods this year have not had the same media coverage as last year. But the devastating effects are the same. And the same areas are affected. SIM will again work with local partners, distribute food aid, and work with communities in the longer term assisting with poverty alleviation.

The numbers affected by the torrential monsoon rains are staggering.
At last count the estimate is more than 7.5m people, and the figure is continuing to rise.
Of these, about three million are critically short of food, according to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

In August 2010, in the initial stage of emergency relief, basic food items and quilts were delivered to 37 villages in surrounding areas.
