CHETNA Community Health and Development
Chetna Community Health and Development, India — 98260
CHETNA is a Community Health & Development ministry of the Duncan Hospital – a unit of the Emmanuel Hospital Association (www.eha-health.org). Through the running of six integrated programmes (Community Organization; Reproductive and Child Health Programme, Adult Literacy, Youth & Children Development, Sanitation, Income Generation Programme), CHETNA will be working with an estimated of 80,000 direct beneficiaries in some of the most impoverished communities in one of the poorest states in India.
In working with these communities, the CHETNA team is partnering with an indigenous mission organisation, and want to engage directly in a holistic witness in an unreached district through their community. SIM plans to support all of the activities except for one which has been funded by another donor.
The project aims to raise community awareness, mobilising people and facilitating community organisation; capacity building; empowering communities; advocating on behalf of communities; and providing some services through health camps where these are currently not available. The expected result is to be able to change people's life and to empower communities with healthy families, adequate knowledge and resources taking responsibility for mother and child health and adopting lifestyle behaviour that will enable them to enjoy fullness of life.
