The Montevideo Ministry Training Centre will strengthen and encourage the church in Uruguay. In the most secularised nation of Latin America, the Uruguayan church faces many challenges. Comprising less than five percent of the population, it is small and often divided by denominationalism. However, it is growing, and the society's increased interest in the transcendent is giving the church more opportunities to share the message of Christ.
A Dream to Strengthen the Church
The SIM Uruguay team is establishing a training facility where Christians can come together to be encouraged and equipped to reach out to their secularised society and to the world.
This project is for the construction of a ministry and training facility on a property that SIM Uruguay currently owns. It is in a prime location, just inside the limits of the capital city of Montevideo. The property is a beautiful piece of land where people can come away from the city to be with God and His people.
A Place to Learn and to Grow
The Montevideo Ministry Training Centre will provide a broad range of programmes, ministries, retreats, and camps. The main areas of focus will be training in:
- children & youth ministry
- missions
- pastoral care
- marriage
This project will fund the construction of the facilities:
- three 12-person cabins
- a multi-purpose meeting room/dining room for 150 people
- extensive development and landscaping of the site, including a football field, volley ball court, pool, access road, and major electrical connection.
SIM missionaries will build a team of counsellors to run weekend, week-long, and one-day training events to strengthen the local church. They will also utilise the experience and training of short-term teams and guest lecturers. The centre will also be used as a retreat centre for Latin American missionaries and possibly as a training facility for Latin missionary candidates.
Your partnership can help make this vision a reality.
