Bible College placements with SIM are tailor-made assignments that form part of your course at Bible College.

Alternatively, you may be able to use the time for language and cultural learning while you explore long-term options.

Where can you go?

You can serve in Africa, Asia or South America. For a complete list of the countries where we work, please go to the 'Where we work' section.

When can you apply?

Allow at least 5 months before your placement, but the sooner you contact SIM, the more likely it is that we can find a good match for your requirements.

Application process

Step 1: Talk to your church leaders and the college tutor responsible for placements.

Step 2: Enquire online by clicking on Enquire now , or contact the SIM-UK office by phone (01449 766464) or e-mail. Someone will contact you to discuss options, and make sure you understand enough about SIM to decide whether to proceed to application and interview.

Step 3: If your application is approved, we will work with you to finalise your placement and give you information about how to prepare for service (finances, orientation, etc.).

Step 4: Gather your support, both finances and prayer.

Step 5: Orientation. Learn about SIM, and the situation to which you will be going.

Finances

Participants in the Bible College Placement Programme are expected to raise their own support to cover the cost of the assignment. Getting your church involved right at the beginning is very important.

Expenses include travel, orientation, medical checks and vaccinations, accommodation and food, health insurance, administration and visas. The actual costs vary greatly, depending on the location and length of service.

Training

You will be required to take part in an orientation course before beginning your assignment. This is to prepare you for your experience by teaching you more about SIM and the situation to which you will be going, and to highlight health considerations.
