We are now receiving applications for our GAP programme which starts in October 2010.
SIM's Global Awareness Programme...
is specifically designed for students deferring their entry to university for a year. This year alone, thousands of young people will be doing just that and hoping to rest, travel, learn new skills, meet new people, sample exotic food, see beautiful places...
In SIM we believe we can offer you all that but much more besides.
If you will be 18 by the end of 2010, taking a gap year between A Levels/Highers and university, a growing Christian involved in your local church, interested in world mission and committed to putting God at the centre of your GAP year, we would love to hear from you.
The programme consists of three phases:
The first phase is an intensive 8-week orientation and training course at our residential operations centre, Wetheringsett Manor. Here you will be introduced to a range of subjects and activities that will help you get the most out of your overseas assignment. It will be great fun, but a desire to learn and grow is essential.
Of course, playing your part in world mission is the main focus of the programme. Following orientation, you will be allocated in pairs for a six-month overseas assignment, linking into a wide variety of projects across South America, Africa and Asia.
The programme closes with a debriefing consultation back at Wetheringsett Manor to think through how the whole experience can be used to shape your future.
