Steps for service
Step 1: Talk to your church leadership and members of your church. Ask them to pray with you and advise you about participation. Their encouragement, evaluation, and support in prayer and finances will be vital to your mission experience. But more than that, it's the church which sends you, with agencies like SIM working in partnership with them.
Step 2: Enquire now or contact your local SIM office. We will then begin to work with you to explore how God is leading you suggest some possible placements and begin the application process.
Step 3: If your application is successful, we will work with you to finalise your assignment, and plan what you need to do in preparation for your time overseas.
Step 4: SIM will continue to guide and encourage you as you go through the process of preparing practically, culturally and spiritually for your assignment. As well as gathering prayer and financial support, your preparation could include reading up on your country and religion, language learning and developing ministry skills.
A course of study at Bible college may be helpful for you. Click here to read more on questions to think about if you are considering this.
Step 5: As part of your preparation you will attend an orientation course which will be an opportunity to get to know SIM as an organisation, to focus on some of the practical details of serving in another culture, and to prepare spiritually for your assignment.
