Learn how to make disciples through sport on a Sports Friends internship

If you’re looking to combine your love of sport with your love for Jesus, we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you.

As part of our Immerse programme for people in their 20s, Serving In Mission's Sports Friends ministry is offering fantastic new internships.

We’re looking for people to start in the autumn and you can join for either one or two years. In either case, you will be given superb training in cross-cultural mission through sport.

You’ll start with four weeks at our Suffolk headquarters, learning the nuts and bolts of mission work, before heading off to join Sports Friends.

You’ll be given a wide choice of where your skills can be put to the best use, but the possible countries include Thailand, Peru, Malawi or Niger. And you'll be able to work across several sports, although an interest in football and/or netball and/or volleyball would be especially useful.

Sports Friends was set up 14 years ago and seeks to train and equip coaches in the local church to make disciples of young people through sport. The training will develop your skills and understanding for reaching out with the gospel through sport.

Their goal is to see church-centred ministries using sport to transform lives and strengthen communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Their interns work alongside experienced Sports Friends mission workers and are mentored with care and diligence throughout.

They are given the chance to develop the skills, passion and understanding for cross-cultural gospel work.
