Welcome to China, home to one-fifth of the world's population. In Nebuchadnezzar’s time, the ancient city of Xi'an in Shaanxi Province was the capital of China and the largest city in the world. During the time of explorer Marco Polo, Xi'an was brought to the attention of the outside world as the "Silk Road" carried China's precious silk to Rome, Constantinople and Jerusalem. It also brought Islam, Buddhism and Christianity to China and today attracts millions of tourists from all over the world.
By faith, we see God glorified through the establishment of the Church among the unreached people groups of Western China.
Since foreign missionaries were expelled from China in 1949, the church of Jesus Christ has grown exponentially. The Chinese government estimates 30 million Christians in China today but unofficial figures show 50 to 100 million! Biblical teaching and leadership development are crucial. The Amity Foundation prints one million Bibles each year in China yet, owing to rapid church growth and ever-increasing demand, many more Bibles are needed.
Western China is home to almost 100 million people from other major world religions. It is a spiritually needy area with few Christians and churches. Millions of people in the minority groups have not had an opportunity to hear of Jesus' love and forgiveness.
We see great opportunities for Christians to work or study in China: building relationships, sharing Jesus and being a partner of the church in Western China.
We encourage Christians from the majority Han people to become involved in mission, both inside and outside China. Some of our team members are involved with the registered churches, others with the unregistered ones. All seek opportunities to share their faith and to disciple believers.
